Tabe Mikako and Miura Haruma emotional during opening of “Kimi ni Todoke”

The popular manga turned live-action movie, “Kimi ni Todoke”, had its opening today at the TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills.
The opening was attended by Tabe Mikako and Miura Haruma, along with the director of the film, Kumazawa Naoto. Due to the overwhelming support from the public for the movie, Tabe Mikako and Miura Haruma were moved to tears, and Tabe Mikako in particular expressed her gratitude by saying, “I appreciate it all”, with her eyes red and swollen.
The movie is based on the manga of the same title, created by Shiina Karuho and published in 2006. It follows the story of Kuronuma Sawako, who is often called “Sadako” by her classmates because of her appearance and the myths surrounding her character.  Only Kazehaya appreciated her existence, and he befriended her so that their classmates would follow suit.  Tabe Mikako plays the role of Kuronuma, while Miura Haruma plays Kazehaya.
During the event, Miura shared that if there ever will be a sequel for the movie, he hopes that it will be set after high school, when they are about to enter college. “Kazehaya will tell Sawako that he doesn’t want to go to a university or go to Tokyo at all. However, that might make Sawako tell him to not to worry about her and just follow his dreams.”
Given that “Kimi ni Todoke” is one of the most anticipated movies of the fall, it’s expected to be a big hit.
